First things first..why start a blog?? :)

WHY AM I BLOGGING?
In order to fulfill my communications minor at SMU, I am doing an independent study on being President of Athletes in Action. My teacher requires a blog that is updated a minimum of once a week. This is a great opportunity to engage current student athletes on campus who are curious about weekly meetings, getting involved, or connecting their faith and sport. It also gives my parents (HI MOM AND DAD) family, and friends a change to see all the mountains not only God is moving at Saint Martin's, but also in my life :)

WHAT IS ATHLETES IN ACTION?
The main idea of Athletes in Action is to build spiritual movements everywhere through the platform of sport.
There mission statement is "Seeing a day when there are Christ followers on EVERY team, in EVERY sport in EVERY nation."
So basically, the purpose is to serve as a spiritual resource to the athletic department and any students who love sport. To go into further detail, AIA is present in 97 countries, 35 professional sports teams, and 205 campuses.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS BLOG?
   Pictures :)
Updates and details about "huddle" (campus weekly meetings)
My journey as a student athlete seeking God in all aspects of life
Testimonies from other students (Torin and Kalle where you at)
Upcoming events for camps and retreats through AIA
   Personal stories

WHY AIA?
Athletes in Action has changed my perspective in multiple aspects of life. I attended weekly meetings at SMU my freshmen-Junior year. I was asked to take over and continue the club on campus when the previous leader graduated last year. I'm already smiling thinking back on what Athletes in Action use to look like, and how much God has used me to make a bigger impact with my teammates, friends, and others on campus.

WHAT'S COMING UP?
LOTS. But for my next post, I will focus on pictures from SMU's Athletes in Action this past semester. I will be giving you a look into what we do here on campus. You will see some pictures from regular club talks, competitions, UTC camp and our winter retreat from a couple weeks ago. I will give you a little hint at what I'm talking about :)

Look forward to putting a story on the internet for anyone to read. I've learned to say "Yes" more often when I feel God tugging on my heart. I know that turning in my registration papers for my on the last day at 4:58 for a little communications minor would have a bigger purpose. Would love your input, requests, comments, and even for you to share! Stay Tuned for my next post :)
